Star player to make shock return, among several revelations of The Milk in The Milk!
It looked bad. They said "four to six weeks". Then it was "two to four weeks". Now it's "one or two weeks", according to a source very close to the man himself...
Yes, the people, Word on The Street and from the man himself is this: the knee injury suffered by Canberra Raiders hooker Josh Hodgson is looking like a “one or two week” injury and not the “four to six week” one originally feared after the crack international hobbled off GIO Stadium in the ninth minute of the 24-19 ball-tearer last Friday evening against Cronulla Sharks.
And so, as you could hear from myself and Tim Gore on the excellent Blake & The Pork podcast (upon which I was spruiking The Milk), Hodgson could be back for Gold Coast Titans at GIO Stadium on Saturday March 27, or, apparently worst case, Manly Sea Eagles at Mudgee on April 2.
So that’s good, isn’t it.
Yes it is.
For whether it is just a torn bit of cartilage or a strain of his meniscus or a rent asunder of his Mal Meningococcal, for who knows with that complicated man-gristle, it’s good news for we Green Machinists given playmakers have been dropping like speed skaters pursued by Stephen Bradbury.
And you may hear more of that and more on said podcast, with news of The Milk coming from minute 50 thereabouts, get it bang India here and/or indeed here:
In other news of news, The Milk got a little guernsey in Andrew Webster’s crackerjack column in The Sydney Morning Herald today, which is pretty cool, the piece featuring an extract about Peter ‘Zorba’ Peters’ contact with private eye, enforcer and model for Chesty Bond Tim Bristow who was on ‘gardening leave’ from Berrima Jail when he clocked an important meeting in a nearby 'tea house’.
True story. Living history. Have a read for news of this and of the impressive Mannah family who’ll be acknowledged ahead of the Parramatta Eels and Cronulla Sharks game on Saturday, the teams playing for the Johnny Mannah Cup.
Mudgee? Yes - off to Mudgee for the April 2 Manly game and will hold another launch, of sorts, same style of thing we had at The Kingo, that being an MC, a me, and a couple of Raiders and maybe Sea Eagles old boys gibbering on stools. Will word up you and all Raiders Nation about the pub for this pre-match pep talk.
In book news, sales are solid. Each day spend a tidy hour or so trying to think of witty things to write in dedications before packing and heading off to the post office to jettison units to addresses here and overseas. Most exotic has been one in Florida where a book has jetted off for none other than Open Champion of 1991 and apparently closeted Raiders fan Ian Baker-Finch.
Another notable book-buyer is the actor who played Dennis Lillee in that mini-series about Kerry Packer and World Series Cricket, Matt le Nevez, who lives in Los Angeles and participates on the very Blake and The Pork podcast, and is actually a revelation in terms of footy nous, he describes the game play better than Cooper Cronk.
Maybe not Cooper Cronk. But fact: Faux DK knows his footy. True.
Right! That’s us. And you may still (I know, still) purchase a copy of The Milk from TheMilkBook.com and by clicking on the big pic of the book below.
And you may also look at another TikTok I did, though you may have to physically up-end your phone and/or desktop computer screen to see it in landscape, I am still very new to the medium and not sure it’s for me or anyone over 11 years old.
Could be wrong. Probably am. And bye for now.
