The Milk, the book, nearly a third funded
With 23 days of the Kickstarter campaign to go, publication of The Milk is 32.6% funded. If we don't reach the $10k, money back. If we do, you get a signed copy with your name in the back. Pledge now!
Nation!
Good day, again.
Little Kickstarter project for The Milk, the book about 40 years of these our Canberra Raiders, is doing pretty well in its bid for publication, with $3.26k pledged by folks and 23 days to reach our goal of $10k.
Quarter way, we’re a third full up.
And there is still time to get aboard what they’re calling in the streets the:
They aren’t calling it that. I don’t think. Maybe they are, which would be funny because I made it up.
Regardless, you may also advance-purchase The Milk and help us get it up and published, posted, delivered and all that - and get your name in the back - by upping your level of Subscription in this medium.
Or just get onto Kickstarter and choose one of several levels of support available, each which come with a Reward.
Of a book.
Indeed a signed and posted copy of the very book being kickstarted.
How convenient.
So yes! It’s a bit like buying off the plan - except it’s money back if we don’t raise the $10k for printing, postage, proof-reading, branding, marketing, publicity and paying off people to write nice things of it.
Well - not paying them off.
But fellow journos, bless them, conditioned as they are to never paying for books given so many publishers send them copies for nix, will require free copies of the publication to publicise The Milk in their publications.
How things roll.
In a similar vein, if you could do us a fave and copy-paste this URL out to your Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and/or greater email lists, you would be my new favourite.
The book? Those who may have read A Short History of Golf will know that The Milk will not be the definitive history of the Canberra Raiders across the last 40 years.
There are people, known as “historians”, who can fossick about for that detail.
The Milk though, I can tell you this, will be enjoyable to read.
Which is important in a thing that you read, IMO, as the kids would text you.
What’ll be in it? As per the Project page, it will be 20 chapters of around 4000 words, revolving around 20 great games (and a host of names) in club history.
There’ll be quotes from key players, coaches, administrators, journalists, referees, fans and sundry types such as Steve Mavin who was hooked from the SCG in ‘87, for example.
There’ll be heaps of good old yarns, some re-told, some never told before and with good reason.
And if you would pledge $40 to the Kickstarter campaign click here.
Or if you would advance-purchase a copy via this medium, upgrade your subscription here:
Or if you’d read more about it and decide whether to get verily amongst it, click here.
Any questions, gimme a holler.
Cheers, Matt
